★Disease is a condition that impairs the proper functioning of the body or one of its parts.

The diseases may be of different types, such as :

(a) Acute disease: Which lasts for short duration. Example: Common cold. jaundice

(b) Chronic disease: Which lasts for very long period.

Example: Tuberculosis, diabetes.

(c) Infectious disease: Which can be transmitted from one individual to another directly or indirectly.

Example: Influenza, tuberculosis

(d) Non-infectious disease: Which are not transmitted from one individual to another. Example: Cancer, marasmus.
