Dispersion may be defined as a phenomenon of splitting up of white light (sunligjt) into its contituent colours after refraction through a prism (natural like raindrops or artificial) , obtained on a screen. These colours are Violet, indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. (VIBGYOR)
The band of seven colours obatined on the screen is called a spectrum. It may be a Pure spectrum or an Impure Spectrum.
A Pure sprectrum is one in which each color of light takes its position and no color overlaps the other. Each colour is visible clearly
An Impure spectrum is one in which each colour does not have its distinct position and hence a kind of combination of colours is formed.

Dispersion:

dispersion is the splitting up of white light into its component colours-red,orange,yellow,green,blue,indigo and violet.(VIBGYOR)

spectrum:

Light spectrum can mean the visible spectrum, the range of wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation which our eyes are sensitive to … or it can mean a plot (or chart or graph) of the intensity of light vs its wavelength (or, sometimes, its frequency)
