Dispersion of light:-

When white light is passed through a glass prism it splits into its spectrum of colours and this process of white light splitting into its constituent colours is termed as dispersion.

Note:-

  • Spectrum = A rainbow shows the colours in the spectrum.

  • White light comprises of seven visible colours (VIBGYOR) whereas black (or dark) signifies the absence of light rays.
