  • We can write the formula of dispersive power in terms of refractive index, by taking the example of a glass prism.

Let, μ₁ = Refractive index of violet rays

μ₂ = Refractive index of red rays

μ₃= Refractive index of yellow rays

So,

Dispersive power (ω) = (μ₂ - μ₁)/(μ₃ -1)
