The type of current we've been talking about so far is called conduction current, which is the current created by the movement of electrons through a conductor such as an electrical wire. This is the type of current you are probably most familiar with, but there is also another type of current you may not know about calleddisplacement current.Displacement current is a quantity appearing in Maxwell's Equation. It is defined in terms of the rate of change of electric displacement field. The units of displacement current are same as that of electric current density.

displacement current is just the integral of displacement current density over a surface. So, for the rest of this response, I will explain the meaning of displacement current density.
