Hello there !!
Displacement is the shortest distance covered by any object in per unit time.
It's S.I unit is m/s.
It is a vector quantity.
Displacement-
A vector which is drawn from initial to final position of particle is known as displacement. In the attachment AB is the displacement of given particle.
Important Points-
1. Displacement is a vector quantity and its direction is always from initial to final position.
2. Magnitude of displacement = shortest path between initial and final position.
3. Displacement depends on final and initial position of the particle but it does not depends on actual path.
4. Displacement of particle can be +ve , -ve or 0. It becomes zero when initial and final position are same.
5. Displacement of particle can increase or decrease. Displacement increases when a body is moving away from initial position and it decreases when a body is moving towards initial position.
6. For the motion between two fixed points distance from more than one value but displacement has only one unique value.
