Displacement reaction

✍ Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction.

✍ In displacement reaction, less reactive element is displaced by more reactive element.

✍ It is also known as metathesis reaction.

✍ There are two types of displacement reactions:-

Single displacement reaction

In these reactions, only one element replaces the other element.

Fe + CuSO4 → FeSO4 + Cu

Double displacement reaction

In these reactions, two reactant exchange there ions.

AgNO3 + NaCl → AgCl + NaNO3
