The reaction in which a active metal displaces less reactive metal from its salt solution is called displacement reaction.

It is also known as substiution reaction.

Ex:-

Cu + 2AgNO3 → 2Ag + Cu(NO3)2

Fe + Cu(NO3)2 → Fe(NO3)2 + Cu
