Displacement reactions are those reactions in which a more reactive element displaces ( or removes) a less reactive element ( usually metals) from its compounds.

Iron (Fe) is more reactive than (Cu). Hence, it can displace Cu from its salt solution.
Fe + CuSO_{4} --\ \textgreater \  Cu + Fe SO_{4}

However, Cu cannot displace Fe from its salt solution as it is less reactive than Fe.
Cu+FeSO_{4}--\ \textgreater \  No reaction.

Hope it helped!
