A displacement reaction is the one in which a more reactive element displaces the lesser one to form a conpound.
Eg.= Fe + CuSO4 = FeCO4 + Cu
In the above reaction iron being more reactive than copper displaces it from copper sulphate solution and hence ferrous sulphate is formed leaving behind copper.
