Fe + CuSO4 >>>>>>FeSO4 +Cu

This is an example of simple displacement in which iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution because iron is more reactive then copper.

Example of double displacement reaction

Na2 SO4 + BaCl2 >>>>>>BaSO4 + 2NaCl

Those reaction in which one element takes the place of another element in a compound, are known as displacement reaction.
generally a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element.
eg.
CuSO4(aq) + Zn(s) --------- ZnSO4(aq) + Cu (s)
