This reaction is called displacement reaction in which the reactive element Iron, Fe has displaced less reactive Copper from its solution, The chemical equation can be written as: Fe+CuSO4→Cu+FeSO4.

Answer:

Displacement reaction is the reaction in which an element displaces another element in a compound. The displacement of element is based on the basis of there reactivity power of the elements.

Explanation:

When iron nail is dipped in copper sulphate solution the copper in the compound is displaced by a more powerful iron element and hence gets deposited on the nail. The displacement reaction can be written as follows-:

Fe+ CuSO4----------> FeSO4 + Cu
