Answer:

A single-displacement reaction, is a chemical reaction in which one element is replaced by another in a compound. It can be represented generically as: A + B-C → A-C + B This will most often occur if A is more reactive than B, thus giving a more stable product

Displacement reaction is a process of exchanging atoms by another atom. It occurs due to higher reactivity means higher the metal have reactivity that will replace the lower one.

It can be divided into two types:-

1. Single displacement reaction:- In this only one atom is exchanged.

Example:-

Cu + 2AgNO3 ===> 2Ag + Cu(NO3)2

2. Double displacement reaction:- In this two atoms are exchanged.

Example:-

BaCl2 + K5SO4 ==> BaSO4 + 2KCl
