In physics displacement means the shortest length taken from the initial position to the final position in shortest time

and in displacement in chemistry.....
is a reaction by which one element replaces an/other element in a compound.
A + B-C → A-C + B

_____________$$_

but in case of double displacement in chemistry it means a type of chemical reaction in which the radicals of different elements exchange forming new compounds

for example...- NaCl+AgNo3-----NaNo3+AgCl...

thank you

Answer:

In a displacement reaction, a more reactive element replaces a less reactive element from a compound. In a double displacement reaction, two atoms or a group of atoms switch places form new compounds. In a displacement reaction, one displacement takes place. ... Salt solutions of two different metals react with each other.
