DISTANCE
-distance is the actual path followed or covered by an object 
- it can't be 0
- it is a scalar quantity
DISPLACEMENT
- shortest path followed or covered by an object
-it can be zero
-may or may not be equal to distance
-it is a vector quantity

'Distance' is the length of the actual path travelled by an object in motion while going from one point to another, whereas displacement is the minimum distance between the starting and finishing points.
