so let me tell u the difference between distance and displacement

1.displacement is the length of the shortest path between the point of arrival and departure

while distance is the length of the actual path followed by the object

2. displacement and distance both can be zero or have posative value but in some cases even though displacement is zero distance will be posative

(for example you go in a circular path and come back and stop at same position of start)

3. displacement is a vector quantity(both magnitude and direction) while distance is a scalar quantity

4. displacement is rate of change of velocity while distance is rate of change of speed
