Distance is a scalar quantity and Displacement is a vector quantity. DISTANCE AND MAGNITUDE OF DISPLACEMENT WILL BE EQUAL when an object is tavelling in a straight path that is rectilinear path. Distance and magnitude of the displacement will equal when an object is travelling in straight path.

hey mate here is your answer...

Distance and displacement is equal when there is a uniform motion..

Uniform motion = travel equal distance in equal time interval in a straight line…

I.e , constant speed + constant direction= constant velocity…

Now ; velocity= displacement / timeSpeed = distance/ time..

When the body is in uniform motion , speed and velocity is equal….

I.e , displacement= distance

hope this answer helps you...
