The diurnal range of temperature is the difference in between the maximum and the minimum temperature of the same day. It is referred as high daytime temperature or low nighttime temperature. The diurnal temperature range is high as the distance moves far away from the sea especially in places where the solar radiation is at its highest.

Jaisalmer is located in Rajasthan state, that is in the North of India. These places have low-pressure conditions and so, the hot dry winds blow violently along with dust storms to compensate for the low-pressure conditions. They hardly get any rainfall and Jaisalmer records an annual rainfall of less than 20 cms. So, the diurnal temperatures increase up to 45°C.

However, Kochi is located in Kerala along the coast of the Arabian Sea. The temperature is moderate throughout the year and it is also a place that receives a lot of rainfall during the monsoons. So, the diurnal temperature of Kochi is lower.

Diurnal range of Temperature is the difference of maximum and minimum temperature of a place in a time period.

Jaisalmer has more diurnal range of temperature because the sand quickly becomes very hot at daytime and very cold at night.
