In the most easiest of ways, consider it as dividing work among different ‘bodies’ or ‘organelles’ as it makes it easier.
So, you have mitochondria generating ATP, lysosomes that take care of the cellular waste removal or digestion of the engulfed organism or food particle, Endoplasmic reticulum does protein synthesis(RER), synthesizing lipids and steroids (SER), so on and so forth. It is much easier for the cell this way, rather than putting all or most of the functional ‘burden’ on a single organelle. It’s as evolutionary advantage which most likely would have started when the first cell came into being. As cells grew bigger and more complex, more functions were needed and thus the need for specialized organelles
