Such areas show tremendous variations from person to person and help in identification of the individual by what is popularly know as DNA Fingerprinting but better called DNA Profiling.
DNA fingerprinting is useful in establishing paternity and maternity in criminal cases.
Blood stains or semen stains,hair or items of clothing found at the site of crime provide biological evidence throgh DNA Fingerprinting
