What is Dobereiner's Triad?

Dobereiner arranged elements with similar properties into groups.

These groups had three elements each so they were called Triads.
According to Dobereiner's Triad,

The atomic mass of middle element is roughly the average of the atomic masses of the other two elements.

Dobereiner was a German Chemist, who grouped the elements in triads(groups of three elements), in such a way that the middle element of the triad had both atomic mass and properties roughly equal to the average of the other 2 elements in the traid.

However, this method was soon discarded, since only a few elements known at time could be arranged in triads.
