What is dominant factor-axial flowers or terminal flowers ?
Answers
Hello guys Namaste,
The allele for axial flowers ("A") in a pea plant is dominant over the allele for terminal flowers ("a"). A pea plant which is homozygous in the axial flower allele is crossed with a pea plant that is heterozygous.
The occurrence of terminal flowers is a dominant factor. In genetics, each gene or the feature it shows is either a recessive gene/factor or dominant gene/factor.
If a dominant gene is present, it dominates the recessive gene and thus, leads to the occurrence of that dominant gene's trait (which is also called dominant factor).
This is the reason why many features are seen rarely in some species. For instance, blue eyes is a rare feature in humans.
