The system of blood circulation common in mammals, in which blood passes through the heart twice, before going through the full body is known as Double Circulation.

In general terms it may be stated as one loop in which the blood carries oxygen (oxygenated blood) and the second loop in which it carries blood which has carbon dioxide in it (devoid of oxygen - deoxygenated blood).

Blood is pumped from the heart to the lungs and returns back to the heart, for distribution to organs and tissues of the body.
