Explanation:

A double decomposition reaction is a reaction in which the positive ions and negative ions in two compounds switch partners to form two new compounds. The older term double decomposition has been largely replaced by the terms double displacement, double replacement, and metathesis

Answer:

The reaction in which exchange of molecules takes place between the reactants is known as double dislacement reaction.

For ex. BaCl2 + Na2SO4 -----> BaSO4(ppt) + NaCl

In the above reaction BaSO4 formed is a precipitate

Na2S + 2HCl ------> 2NaCl + H2

Explanation:

An easy way to remember  double displacement reaction is to rememberr the following reaction--

AB + CD -------------> AD + CB

Hope it helps!!! :)
