Double displacement reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which a higher reactive metal displaces a lower reactive metal from its solution.
For eg Fe (iron) is more reactive than Cu (copper)
So if we add Fe to copper sulphate solution then Fe displaces copper
The above reaction is :
Fe + CuSO4 ––––––> FeSO4 + Cu
