double displacement reaction is the reaction in which there is a mutual exchange of ions .

example:- NaSO4+BaCl2→ 2NaCl2+BaSO4 (precipitate)

Double displacement reaction is such where the positive ions and the negative ions of the two reactants switch places giving rise to two new compoumds....
For example:

Na2S + 2 HCl gives 2NaCl + H2S
