from the stigma a pollen tube develops towards the ovary and sends two male germ cells .one germ cell fuses with the female gamete and other fuses with the polar nucli thus fertilistion happens two times and three nucli are involved hence this is double fertilisation

fertilization in plants occurs two times

one male gamate fuses with the egg cell to form zygote and the other male gamate fuses with diploid nucleus to form endosperm (provides nutrition)
