Anther produces pollen grains. When these pollen grains reach the stigma, then they release some liquid substance. This liquid substance is absorbed by stigma and it forms a pollen tube.

The two pollen grains now travel through this pollen tube and ultimately reach the ovule of ovary.

When one male gamate (pollen grain) fuse with egg then it forms zygote by the process of fertilization and this type of fertilization in plants is known as Syngamy.

And when the other male gamate (pollen grain) fuse with two polar nuclei then it forms endosperm.

The zygote then developed into embryo and the endosperm provides nutrients to the developing embryo.

Since, the fertilization occurs two times in plants. So, this type fertilization is known as Double Fertilization..
