Double Fertilization:

 After entering one of the synergids, pollen tube releases two male gametes into the synergid.

 One of the male gametes fuses with egg nucleus, the process is called syngamy.

 This results in formation of diploid zygote.

 The other gametes move towards the central cell and fuses with its two nuclei to form triploid primary endosperm nucleus (PEN).

 As this involves fusion of three haploid nuclei, it is called triple fusion.

 Since 2 types of fusion (syngamy and triple fusion) takes place in an embryo sac, the phenomenon is called double fertilization, an event unique to flowering plants.

 The central cell after triple fusion becomes primary endosperm cell (PEC) which develops into endosperm.

 While the zygote develops into embryo.
