Double coincidence of wants was one of the integral features of the barter system. For example, person 1 has potatoes (which he doesn't want) and he wants wheat. So, he has to find a person who sells wheat and who also wants to buy potatoes (which was a pain). This drawback was countered with the advent of currency.

Hope this helps!!!
