Dry ice is solidified ‘carbon dioxide’. It is used as a ‘cooling agent’ and for preserving food.

EXPLANATION:

Dry Ice is solid carbon dioxide. It is called ‘dry’ instead of wet as it does not ‘melt’ into its liquid form. Instead it sublimes directly to its gaseous state.

It is extremely cold, non-toxic, and completely dry. Hence it is greatly used as an expendable refrigerant especially for medical products. It is used as a ‘cooling agent’ and for preserving food. Dry ice is also used for blast cleaning, production of foggy clouds, fire extinguishing and pest control.
