Because on heating dry ice it is sublimated or changed directly into gaseous state from solid its chemical name is co2 and it never gets converted into liquid thats why it is different from normal ice and is known as dry ice

→Solid carbon dioxide (CO2) is called dry ice.
→ Solid CO2 is called as dry ice because solid CO2 gets converted directly into gaseous state by decreasing 1 atmosphere pressure.
