it is called dry ice because it sublimes on heating. it does not changes into liquid state instead it changes directly into gas

Dry ice is also known as solid Carbon Dioxide. It is called dry ice because Carbon Dioxide when heated gets directly converted into vapour state from solid state without coming in liquid state.
