An ecosystem is a community made up of living organisms and nonliving components such as air, water, and mineral soil.
Ecosystems can be studied in two different ways. They can be thought of as interdependent collections of plants and animals, or as structured systems and communities governed by general rules. The living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic) components interact through nutrients cycles nd energy flows.  Ecosystems include interactions among organisms, and between organisms and their environment. Ecosystems can be of any size but each ecosystem has a specific, limited space. some scientists view the entire planet as one ecosystem.

an ecosystem includes all of the living things plants , animals and organisms .interacting with each other and also with their non living environment as whether ,earth , sun , soil etc .in ecosystem each organism has his own role to play. it is a community of both living and non living organisms . similarly car engine has different parts to make it work so as in ecosystem also all the things plants , animals etc makes up the ecosystem and helps it to work on. it is a philosophically speaking and a way of life , from smaller scales to the bigger.
you can also say it a study of inter-relationships with the living organisms .
