what is ecosystem explain.
Answers
The collection of all living organisms within a defined and recognizable habitat forms an ecosystem.
So we might speak of a forest or a desert ecosystem. Or we might subdivide that further and talk bout a boreal coniferous forest ecosystem, or a high-altitude desert ecosystem. I began my career studying the terrestrial ecosystem in the maritime Antarctic, but even there we could recognize at least three further distinct subsets, of moss bank, fellfield and small eutrophic areas that 'enjoyed' a much higher nutrient input level thanks to run-off from penguin rookeries. Because the penguins derive their food exclusively from the ocean, they are viewed more as part of the marine ecosystem than the terrestrial one. But it serves to illustrate that the boundaries between one ecosystem and the next can be blurred.
Nonetheless, underlying that blurriness is the idea that the organisms within any given ecosystem are principally interdependent upon one another for food sources and so for nutrient flow, typically initiated by photosynthesis within the primary producers, with few other external inputs or outputs.
But I am probably out of date, and the field of ecology has moved on since then, and maybe somebody else will have a more up to date definition for you.
Explanation:
An ecosystem is a community of living and non-living things that work together – it consists of abiotic (soil, water, air) and biotic parts (flora, fauna).
