Educated unemployment is a worldwide phenomenon and it is one

of the menacing problems of India over a number of decades. It is an

economic malady and social curse. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “Swaraj

has no meaning for the millions, if they do not know how to employ

their enforced idleness.” The Government of India has been trying to

eradicate this problem through a number of policies and programmes.

One of such programmes is the ‘Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana'

(PMRY), a self employment scheme for the educated unemployed

youth.
