Heat like sound is a form of kinetic energy molecules at high temperature have more energy thus they can vibrate faster . since the molecules vibrate faster ,sound waves can travel more quickly . The speed of sound is also affected by other factor such as humidity and air pressure

Effect of temperature on speed of sound
- The velocity of sound in the gas (c) is directly proportional to the square root of its absolute temperature (T).
c ∝
- If c₁ and c₂ are the velocities of sound in the gas at absolute temperatures T₁ and T₂, then
- The velocity of sound in air increases by 0.61 m/sec for 1°C rise in temperature.
