Gypsum (CaSO4. 2H2O) is a hydrate solid that, in a sufficiently dry environment, will give up its water to the gas phase and form anhydrite (CaSO4).

Answer:

Efflorescence is the process of the loss of molecules of water of crystallization from a substance when exposed to air. Washing soda shows efflorescence. It loses 9 molecules of water of crystallization to give sodium carbonate monohydrate compound which is a white powder called washing soda.
