Explanation:

An elastic collision is an encounter between two bodies in which the total kinetic energy of the two bodies remains the same. In an ideal, perfectly elastic collision, there is no net conversion of kinetic energy into other forms such as heat, noise, or potential energy.

Generally the collisions are of two type

  • elastic collision
  • inelastic collision

A collision im which no kinetic energy is lost is called elastic collision.

In other word if the value of cofficient of restitution is 1 than collision is perfectly elastic.

In this type of collision if body strike a wall the final and initial magnitude of speed is same but the direction is reversed.
