Answer:

the fuse is a wire of short length ,madeup of an alloy of lead and tin. It is stretched between two metallic terminals of a holder of mica clay. The melting point of the alloy of fuse is very low as compared to copper. A fuse is always connected in the live wire of the circuit in the series. each fuse has a specific current rating. When in a circuit current exceeds this rating , the fuse wire is heated and melts . A gap is produced in the circuit i.e., the circuit breaks. Due to break of the circuit , currents stops flowing in it .
