Consider an electric dipole consisting of 2 point charges and separated by a distance . Let p be a point on a perpendicular bisector of a dipole at distance r from center O. The net electrostatic potential at a point in the electric field due to an electric dipole at any point on the equatorial line is zero.

Answer:

We know that the distance between any point on the equatorial plane of a dipole and each of its charges is the same, for that given point. So the net potential at a point on the equational line of an electric dipole, V=0.
