Answer- The above question is from the chapter 'Current Electricity'.

Given question: What is electromotive force?

Answer: Electromotive force-

1. Electromotive force is the potential of electricity which can be produced on changing magnetic field or electrochemical cell.

2. Its SI unit is Volt.

3. Its short form is emf.

4. Its symbol is ε.

5. Formula of electromotive force:

ε = V + Ir

Where, V is the voltage, I is the current across the circuit, r is the cell's internal resistance and  ε is the electromotive force.
