The electrochemical series is a list of metals and other substances arranged in rank order of how easily their atoms may lose electrons. The further apart the metals are in the electrochemical series, the higher the voltage produced across the cell.
Applications of Electrochemical Series. (i) Reactivity of metals: The activity of the metal depends on its tendency to lose electron or electrons, i.e., tendency to form cation . ... (a) Alkali metals and alkaline earth metals having high negative values of standard reduction potentials are chemically active.
