Electrolysis is the process of breaking up of an electrolyte chemically on passing electric current through it.
Some terms related to this:
1.
The Cathode and Anode.
The Electrode with a negative charge is called CATHODE.
The Electrode with a positive charge is called the ANODE.
2. Cations and Anions
The positively and negatively charged particles are called Ions.
they're of 2 type
Cations - Ions with a positive charge
Anions - Ions with a negative charge
3. Electrolyte
The substance in liquid form or when dissolved in water which breaks up chemically during Electrolysis is an electrolyte.
