" Electrolysis "

The word electrolysis means breaking up by the action of an electricity.

The process of decomposition of an electrolyte on passing electricity is called electrolysis.

For example :

Electrolysis

  • The process of passing a current throughout a substance to produce a chemical reaction.
  • An electrolytic cell is a device that consists of positive and negative electrodes that are kept apart while immersed inside a solution that contains positive and negative charged ions.
  • When an electric current is delivered through molten sodium chloride, for example, the sodium ion is drawn to the cathode, where it takes an electrode and transforms into a sodium atom.
  • Figure shows the process.
