Heya friend,

Here's your answer,

Electrolysis of water is the dissociation of water (H2O) into it's consecutive elements : Oxygen(O2) and Hydrogen gas (H2) in the presence of electricity.

The process of electrolysis is done in a machine called electrolyzer which passes the electric current through it and splits water into it's constituent compounds.

The process of electrolysis is used to :-

➡️ Obtain dihydrogen of high purity, which can be prepared by passing electricity through water containing small amount of sulphuric acid.

2H2O (l) ----------------> 2H2(g) + O2(g)
(Electrolysis)

Hope this helps!!!!
