 When assigning electrons to orbitals, we must follow a set of three rules: the Aufbau Principle, the Pauli-Exclusion Principle, and Hund's Rule.

Information about electronic configuration :

It is the representing method of arranging the electrons among the shells as well as subshells. We can also find out the valency that a element has by the method of electronic configuration.

Some examples of electronic configuration are :

Sodium (Na)

Atomic number : 11

 {1s}^{2}  {2s}^{2}  {2p}^{6}  {3s}^{1}

Helium (He)

Atomic number : 2

 {1s}^{2}

Neon (Ne)

Atomic number : 10

 {1s}^{2}  {2s}^{2}  {2p}^{6}

It is clear from the examples that every element possesses their unique electronic configuration.
