Electrostatic forces are attractive or repulsive forces between particles that are caused by their electric charges. This force is also called the Coulomb force

Example: NaCl, MgO are both held by electrostatic forces and are hence called electrostatic compounds

Definition

Electrostatic Force is an imaginary force, used to indicate the situation where in the Electric Field due to charges is constant.

Formula

F = k( Product of magnitude of given

charges)

---------------------------------------------------------

( Distance between the charges )²

Here k = 1 / 4π(epsilon)

or

F = qE

Example

Two charges of magnitude 'q' are placed 1 metre apart.

Then force between them will be

F = kq² / 1² = kq²

Thank you.
