A chemical element is a species of atomshaving the same number of protons in their atomic nuclei (that is, the same atomic number, or Z).[1] For example, the atomic number of oxygen is 8, so the element oxygen consists of all atoms which have exactly 8 protons.

\bf\huge{Element :}

An element is an pure substance which contain only one kind of particles.

\textbf{Example :}

Na, Ca, H2, F2, O2, Mg, H etc.

\textbf{Types of Elements :}

1) \underline{Metals :}

→ Present at the left side of periodic table.

→ They loose electrons.

→ Metals are shiny in nature.

→ They are Malleable and Ductile.

→ They are both good conductor of heat and electricity.

→ Ex :- Na, Al etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

\underline{Non-Metals}

→ Present at the right side of the periodic table.

→ They gain electrons.

→ They are not shiny. They are dull in nature.

→ They are not Malleable and Ductile.

→ They are poor conductor of electricity.

→ Ex :- H, C, Br etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------

\underline{Metalloids}

→ These are present between Metals and Non-Metals.

→ They can do both; loose and gain electrons.

→ They are not shiny.

→ They are not Malleable and Ductile.

→ They are not so good conductor of electricity. Also, they are not poor conductor of electricity.

→ Ex :- B, Si, As etc.
