The term emission in physics means the production or discharge of some particles.

- Whenever any particle or radiation comes out of a substance (or object), we call it as emission.

- For example, photoelectric emission means the emission (or coming out) of electrons due to high energy photons hitting them.

- Another example is the light that comes out of a source, it called emitted light.

- Emission is a very vast term and it is used very often in physics. the list of examples goes on and on.

Answer:

In physics, emission is the process by which a higher energy quantum mechanical state of a particle becomes converted to a lower one through the emission of a photon, resulting in the production of light. The frequency of light emitted is a function of the energy of the transition.
